Adullam Alabama is a nonprofit organization that provides support and assistance to those in need.
The Cave of Adullam is a stronghold in the Old Testament of the Bible. At Adullam we believe we become better leaders when we give of ourselves. We become stronger when helping others in their pursuit of God. Our faith is elevated when we serve and encourage the body. The cave is first mentioned in 1 Samuel 22, when David flees to it after Saul tries to kill him. David's brothers and father's household join him, and others gather around him, including people who are distressed, in debt, or discontented. David becomes their commander, and eventually leads about 400 men.
Psalm 142
1 I cry aloud to the Lord;
I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy.
2 I pour out before him my complaint;
before him I tell my trouble.
3 When my spirit grows faint within me,
it is you who watch over my way.
In the path where I walk
people have hidden a snare for me.
4 Look and see, there is no one at my right hand;
no one is concerned for me.
I have no refuge;
no one cares for my life.
5 I cry to you, Lord;
I say, “You are my refuge,
my portion in the land of the living.”
6 Listen to my cry,
for I am in desperate need;
rescue me from those who pursue me,
for they are too strong for me.
7 Set me free from my prison,
that I may praise your name.
Then the righteous will gather about me
because of your goodness to me.
That said, we welcome all people. We welcome people of all faiths or of no faith at all to receive our services.
We are open to providing studies, devotions and services but we do not require them of our residents. They are optional. We can provide transportation to local religious services upon request and we can transportation to a local recovery program upon request.
We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, every day of the year to our residents. Once our Community Center is Built, we will offer meals to non-resident community members in need as well.
All of our services are offered at no cost. Adullam Alabama was born out of a desire to serve those in need in our community.
Yes. Those with chemical dependencies and mental issues are often the most chronically homeless and most in need. We are always seeking great community partners with whom we can work to help provide treatment as needed. Residents however are not allowed to be in possession of drugs with the exception of OTC and prescriptions or alcohol on our property.
Sex Offenders as well as those with serious felonies are accepted on a case by case basis. Those registered as Sex Offenders and those with felonies should not be discouraged from applying for services.
Yes. One of our main goals is to help residents build stability and self-sufficiency. Our upcoming Cob Houses, will provide just that for some individuals who have completed our program successfully.
No. At this time we do not house children.
No. Community members can contact us for many services including our Shopping Closet. When our Community Center is built, it will be a resource for the chronically homeless, usually those living on the streets, in tent cities and in cars, by choice. Here, they can take a shower, do laundry, have a meal, warm up or cool off, use the computer, phone or watch TV and be connected to additional resources..
There are many ways to get involved with Adullam Alabama, such as volunteering, making a donation, or attending one of our events. Contact us to find out how you can help.
